Siddha Agastya! He is ever active, ever merciful and pours love to those who take refuge at Him. GnanaBoomi is humbled to present the Sitthan Arul series in English for its readers. See for yourself if any of these incidents relates to you, if it has any message to you or, if it gives a whole new perception about anything for which you may be looking for an answer. It is indeed true, if you believe in the Siddha Agastya, He is there for you!
“Whether I believe it or not, but through the grace of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, you have got your Nadi back, so don’t forget to fulfill the rituals you have committed to do” – the in-charge of Ahobila Mutt kept saying. I had come to know that he does not believe in the Nadi or Agastya Muni.
“I shall stay in the mutt tonight and will start in the morning” – I said. He agreed and said, “One thing…” – I was concerned as to what he is
going to say.
“Today there is lot of crowd and there are no rooms available. Lie down in the Prakara of the mutt but when lying down, wash your hands and legs thoroughly. Whatever happens, never ever roll down in the middle of the prakara.”
I first thought he is cautioning me so as not to touch anyone if I roll down by mistake. But what he said later on took me by surprise.
“I say this because every night at 12, Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy comes for a round in this prakara. No one should be in that pathway.”
I really wanted to know if this is truth. If I ask Agastya Muni, I will get the answer. But just like others, I thought, as if He is going to tell
me. I just nodded my head to the in-charge and returned to the Mutt.
There were lot of mosquitoes and there wasn’t any fan. There was a hand- fan kept by someone long ago which I took and was using it. In spite of having washed my hands and legs, I began to sweat because of the suffocation. I even thought I should have caught a bus or even walked down the hills to get hold of a bus to Chennai. But I am here in this Shrine without being clean with the Jeeva Nadi near my head. I had various different thoughts as well and so could not sleep.
How will the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy come? Will He come alone or will Lakshmi Devi accompany Him? The Maha Muni had shown me miraculous visions, will He not show Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy also tonight just like those? I thought. I even began to think that the in-charge must have cooked up something like this only to scare me off. Above all, I was worried as to how I am going to conduct my sisters’ marriage in such a place, where there are not much of facilities and with lot of restrictions.
I lost even a little amount of sleep on thinking this, in spite of the fact that it is a great blessing to have a wedding conducted in front of
Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and that I got back the Jeeva Nadi after praying to this Lord here. If I don’t do it, even Lord Narasimha Swamy might forgive me, but this in-charge will take the incarnation of Narasimha Swamy for sure, I felt.
The surrounding became quieter as the night set in. I heard someone doing the Katha-Kalaksheba (narrating the glory of Almighty in forms of stories – katha) of Lord Venkatava from a distance.
As it became 11.30, I became curious and I opened the Nadi.
“In this Shrine, Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy comes for a leisure walk in this prakara during the beginning of the third quarter of night. Even this Agastya Muni is earnestly waiting for such a darshan, but that Lord won’t be seen by you.” – He disappeared.
I felt happy that I got to know at least this. But I thought if I could get a glimpse of the Lord coming in, by means of a smell or by the air. When I prayed Agastya Muni for this, He said “If you go to where He took the Narasimha Avatar, you might feel Him”. I felt happy for both the
possible darshan of Narasimha Swamy, and that Agastya Muni had started talking to me again.
I am lucky indeed. Had I gone to Chennai that night, such a blessing may not be possible. I realized something. There are lot of things happening around, without we knowing it. But there is a reason behind everything. We do not realize it until it is over. Such an incident is this, I thought.
The clock crossed twelve.
I folded my hands and began to pray earnestly to Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. Never opened my eyes. “O Lord, I have come here to have Your darshan. You will show your darshan to my Lord Agastya Muni, but won’t you give a glimpse of yours, at least by the smell? I am your disciple. Though I have not prayed to you as a devotee and as it is supposed to be, please have mercy on me and show my thy grace.”
A few seconds passed by.
Suddenly, there is a feeling of air moving, as if walking slowly. The fragrance of sandalwood, Tulasi and with this, a drop of the theertha
(holy water) of Lord Narayana mixed with camphor fell on me. As if someone is walking very slowly but steadily in that Prakara. The fragrance of rose water, jasmine and many other filled my nose, then nothing was there! I got goose pimps! I could not speak. I opened my eyes and could not see anything in that darkness. But the fragrance was still prevailing.
How did the fragrance came in, in such a suffocating place? Does it mean, Narasimha Swamy had come walking? Agastya Muni said that He comes for such a walk frequently, does it mean He will come again?
Whatever I got is so great for me, but we all are greedy right? I closed my eyes and prayed to Narasimha Swamy again. But there wasn’t anything.Half an hour had gone. I opened the Nadi which was in my lap.
“As you prayed with Agastya Muni in your lap, Narasimha Swamy made you feel the fragrance. If you want to have His darshan again, go to Ahobila where He took the avatar. This was a darshan given by Narayana to Agastya Muni. You got a glimpse of one part of a lakh as you are My beloved son” – the Muni concluded.
I felt very proud, how great am I blessed! Within the next fifteen minutes, the in-charge came running towards me. I was wondering why and hesaid, “I had misunderstood the Jeeva Nadi with you. I will keep it in the shrine of Narasimha Swamy and will give it back after doing archana. Then you can take it and go.” I got to know the reason for this only the next morning which surprised me!
