Guru Sakshath Para Brahma Thasmai Sri Agastya Siddha Gurave Nama: |
Pranam O Devotees of Agastya!
Guru Purnima just passed by. We consider Agastya as Guru Agastya and as doing Namaskaram, I desired to publish a post. The information given below is new to me too, I just came to know and Guru Purnima came as well.
The holy history of Agastya Muni’s avatar is a rare incident which touches the heart. It is impossible to caliberate the time of creation by God. Crores of yugas appeared and disappeared with crores of Siddhas appeared. The Supreme Lord, who dwells is Kailasa, Aadhi Shiva (the foremost), His Amsa, Aadhi Moola Agastya Swami created history. He dwells in Sada Shiva’s bliss at all times. Just as that Almighty, Agastya possesses Nithyathva (permanence).
In Lord’s creation, everything must be fed right? Lord Shiva wanted to create the plant kingdom. As He thought, an attractive Devi appeared to whom Lord Shiva ordered to begin creating the plant kingdom in Earth. She obeyed and went on with her work. Shiva Murthy called her ‘Asha Suvasini’.
The plant kingdom provides food for crores of living beings, including the humans. Asha Suvasini wanted them to be one of the divine one in creation. It was the will of Lord Almighty too. She collected the good thoughts from everyone, in all worlds, Maharishis who live as purity in itself, Devas, Gandharvas, those who always medidate upon the Lord, all their good thoughts and gathered them all in to one. How can one describe the Mahatwa of such a thought?
Asha Suvasini prayed to Hari and Hara and said, “Hari Hara, this accumulated good thoughts in to one, that will have both your core being, pray let this be called Arisi” and they blessed so. The term Arisi (rice) is hence the roopa of Hari and Hara. To protect it from natures’ changes, another purest thought was used which covered the rice with rice being the first crop. The Devi’s wonderful work continues.
The rice which was formed as the roopa of Hari-Hara has to be multiplied, other different crops must be created. The Devi called upon that Maha Purusha who is purest in thought from head to toe to take the rice and pray, to get it multiplied. Many of them remained silent for it’s the Lord’s divine play isn’t it? Though qualified, many did not come forward. The Devi thought and prayed to Lord Shiva who agreed where she said:
“The One who comes from within, so wonderfully
The One who gives the title to uncountable Isha’s
The One who mixes in the thoughts only to purify it
The One who is the collection of all purity, such One,
O My Son Agastya, come!”
The Devi called and there stood a Jyothi covering everything from where Maha Agastya appeared as Vishwaroopi, with crores of Sun’s radiance. The Devi placed the rice bead on His hands which reflected as that of
Shankara-Narayana Mani. Within no minute, it multiplied as though it equalled crores of Himalayas.
The Supreme Lord Shiva laughed again (this time not to burn the forts) saying:
“Did you all see this wonder? This Agastya came from me! He is my Purna-Amsa Avatara Murthy. He emerged out of me, who will be the chief of Siddhas, this is my gift to you all for He is none other than Me, myself!”
The creation of various crops continued with the rice multiplying. Hence, the parent of all the plant kingdom is Agastya Himself. That is why when any herb witnesses Agastya, it bows down mentioning what type of herb it is, what it is called etc., Not that He doesn’t know them but out of devotion and respect.
When any herb is used by saying ‘Om Agatheesaya Namaha”, one can obtain the complete benefit out of it. It bestows abundance as well.
PS: In this Guru Purnima time, what Punya are you going to do thinking of your Guru? Do one good thing, thinking of Him. It is sufficient for a Guru Dakshina!
Om Shri Lopa Mudra Sametha Agatheesaya Namaha!
